Enjoy this quick links dump of news:
- Lynette Fromme, better known as Manson Girl “Squeaky” and the only person who has ever wanted to speak to Gerald Ford, was released from prison earlier today.
- Luckily, Barack Obama has kept up with his promise of keeping a totally transparent government and not making closed door deals with Big Pharma.
- No more plum smugglers on Comedy Central: Reno 911! has been canceled.
- Do you hear that? It’s all of Millville and Vineland, NJ crying, and they don’t know why.
- In a brilliant move by the Justice Department, voter intimidation charges against the New Black Panther Party were dropped. (One video can be viewed here.)
- Frank Schaeffer is still a douchebag, but this time, I’ve got him nailed on some outright lying! (If you think Frank Schaeffer is some sort of liberal god, read pages 20 & 21 of his completely assinine co-written book AWOL, in which he claims to have left the church before his career began.)
- For the four year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, here is Jello Biafra’s NOLA photo set on Flickr.
- Oh yes, of course I have a link addressing the heathcare-post office talking point. I have to wonder if, perhaps, the DMV was just too risky of an association to make in the public’s heads.
- As I linked in an earlier post – but it apparently needs it’s own separate mention – The Economist weighs in on ridiculous and ineffective “sex offender” legislation. (Bonus: Reason also brings to light new Illinois legislation preventing sex offenders from using social networking sites.)
- How quickly before the DARE crowd blames Michael Phelps’ Maryland car accident on pot?
- A little on the old side, but I just found that there is a medical marijuana bill sitting in the PA state house. Hey Democrats, good job for once!
- A female police officer followed procedure but is taking shit because she either didn’t recognize or didn’t know who Bob Dylan is. The unsurprising amount of sexism in some of the commentary is disgusting; most has an undertone of “what a stupid bitch,” while sweeping the fact that her male partner backed her up under rug. Since no one else is saying it, I will: hey copper, good job for once!
- Stop the presses! There’s a Whole Foods boycott over the CEO’s opinion on socialized medicine. This was most likely initiated by Zombamas who – like former friends – wouldn’t shop there. After all, shopping at anything but good, union run stores of the people would cost them all proletariat cred. We’ll just ignore the fact that Whole Foods’ non-union starting wages are significantly higher than the major mainstream union chains.
